Celestial Court @ Sheraton Imperial

During Chinese New Year my family and I decided to try out Celestial Court at Sheraton Imperial having heard that their Peking Duck was one of their signature dishes. Upon arrival we were shocked to find the restaurant relatively empty. It seats no more than 100 people and on that night, there was only a couple eating besides us.

Usually I'd only review the food but this time the tea is also worth mentioning. We were persuaded to try a special type of Chinese tea that was very mild and fruity. It looked pretty cool because once it is steeped in water the tea expands into a flower-like shape.

Since it was CNY, we obviously had Yee-Sang, but this time we had it with Clams instead of the usual Salmon. I really liked the Yee-Sang itself but felt that the Clam was too chewy to go well with the dish. I still like Salmon best.

Our first course was the highly anticipated but disappointing Peking Duck. The skin of duck was not very crispy and the pancake was not hot making it very tough bite.

Next we had the Stir-Fry Broccoli and Bok Choy with Scallops. The vegetables were crisp and the scallops was tender.

The Garoupa in a Herbal Superior Stock was definitely a winner. The fish was firm and went well with the aromatic herbal stock which was thick enough to coat the fish.

Prawns braised with Crab Meat Roe came next. The prawns were very big and juicy and the crab meat roe sauce complemented the prawns really well.

Our last dish was the second course of the Peking Duck. We had Braised Noodles with Shredded Duck Meat. The fried noodles went well with the velvety sauce. I liked the bean sprouts that was added which gave the dish an extra crunch.

Most of the dishes were delicious except for the first course of the Peking Duck. The price wasn't bad either. With the Starwood Privilege Card ourr food bill came up to around RM $350 which I felt was cheap considering the quality of the ingredients and the fact that we were eating in a 5 star Hotel.
