Sichuan Food @ Si Chuan Dou Hua, Park Royal Hotel, KL

The last time I visited Si Chuan Dou Hua was during Chinese New Year a couple of years ago. Remembering how good their Tropical Fruit Yee Sang was and wanting to eat Chinese but not Cantonese food we paid a visit to the restaurant this year.

While waiting for our food the Tea Master poured us the restaurant's signature Eight Treasure Tea to go with our Assorted Nuts and Pickled Radish. The tea was a refreshing change from our usual Ti Kuan Yin. It was a little sweet from the dates
and had a nice scent from the chrysanthemum.

There were quite a few Chinese New Year set menus that are suited for tables of four till ten. We weren't very hungry therefore we opted to order from their ala carte menu instead.

Fruit Yee Sang
This is the third best Yee Sang I've had so far. I loved the combination fruits used which included Kiwi, Mango, Dragon Fruit and the all important Pear.

Eight Treasure Seafood Soup
Eight Treasure Soup
The soup's texture was similar to that of chowder where it was thick and creamy. It was mild in flavor and went well with the mixed seafood of sharks fin, scallops and prawns.

Stir-Fry Baby Bok Choi with Garlic
Stir-Fry Baby Bok Choy with Ginger
The Bok Choi was a little too soft for my liking.

Sichuan Peppercorn Chicken
Si Chuan Peppercorn Chicken
This is one of my favorite dishes. The chicken's batter was light and very crispy and there was the right amount of heat from the aromatic Sichuan Peppercorns

Camphor Tea Duck
Camphor Tea Duck
The duck was quite tender but but lacked any tea flavor. We were suppose to dip it in some Hoisin sauce and eat it with the bun but I found the duck too salty when eaten with the sauce

Steam Fish
Steam Fish
Fish is a must during Chinese New Year. Our fish was steamed well and the soy sauce wasn't too salty

We enjoyed most of the dishes that night and it was definitely a nice change from the usual Cantonese Dishes we order. The meal cost RM546.25 for the six of us.
