Korean BBQ @ Sampoong, Bangkok

Broke after our dinner at La Scala we had a late lunch at the affordable Sampoong Korean BBQ which was just minutes from our Hotel. Offering a BBQ buffet for THB 450 we had our only meal of the day there.

Our buffet menu included unlimited Korean side dishes, marinated beef, beef tongue, chicken, fresh bacon, marinated pork, cuttle fish, salmon, prawns and Bi Bim Bap (Stone Pot Rice).

With just the two of us we ordered beef tongue, chicken, fresh bacon, marinated pork and salmon. The chicken and marinated pork was very good. Both were tender and had a really good marinade that leaned towards the sweet side. The beef tongue however was very chewy attempts to sear it lightly to avoid it from overcooking.

The sides were also so-so. The only thing good was their lettuce salad. It looks a little like Kim Chi but the taste is quite different. It was the only side dish where we ordered three plates.

The food was not as good as ala Carte Korean BBQ but looking from a value standpoint Sampoong is quite good with a decent offering of BBQ meats and side dishes. The total cost of our bill came up to THB920 for 2.
