Dim Sum @ Casa Victoria

Prior to visiting CN Tower with Zhao Kun we had some Dim Sum with Derek and Calvin at Casa Victoria on Warden and Highway 7. It is one three "Casa" restaurants serving high-end Cantonese Food around the Scarborough and Markham area.

Like all Casa restaurants, the design of the Casa Victoria reminded us of a Victorian Tea Room with waitresses dressed in traditional English Maids Uniform. The food however is strictly Chinese and was really good.

The Ribs were quite good and there was quite a bit of meat and the garlic was well drawn out into the ribs.


Siu Mai

The Siu Mai was good but definitely not the best that I've had. It had a nice meaty texture but lacked the prawns on top.

The Beef Siu Mai tasted more like Beef Balls more than a Siu Mai.

This was good. The minced pork had the right amount of saltiness and the rice was very soft and sticky.

The filling wasn't actually vegetables but rather minced meat and mushrooms. The skin was actually made from glutinous rice.

The BBQ Pork Bun was not bad. The filling was good but the bun wasn't as soft as I would like.


Har Kow

These were the best! The shrimps were jumbo and the skin was translucent and soft. One of the best Har Kow I've had.

This was really good! The prawns were super large and perfectly steamed together with the soft rice roll.

The cuttlefish was very soft with quite a bit curry flavor. It was one of the best I've had.

This was good. The Minced Pork Filling was tasty and the Yam was very crispy and did not taste oily at all.

The Bun was very soft and good but it contained too little black pepper steak. It was more like Minced Beef.

The filling was very good and the Crispy Glutinous Rice Ball was very good.


BBQ Pork Pastry

The BBQ Pork Pastry was good with again the filling very tasty. The Pastry was very buttery and crumbles in your mouth. It was really good.

Overall Casa Victoria is a little more expensive than most Dim Sum places but compensates with better quality dim sum. Their Har Kow and Steamed Rice Rolls with Jumbo Prawns are one of the best I've had in recent months.
