Hotdog Japanese Style @ Japadog on Burrard St. and Smithe St.

There are quite a number of Hot Dog stands in Vancouver. However there is one particular Stand that stood out among the rest for serving Hot Dogs ala Japanese Style. This store is called Japadog and after operating for just a little over four years the owners have built up a mini-chain with 4 stands around the city core that has attracted not just locals but tourists and various celebrities to try their dogs.

Depending on the location each Stand will serve up a couple of signature Hot Dogs. Not knowing which one was the best we decided to visit the original store on Burrard and Smithe Street.

Browsing their picture menu there were a number of unique Hot Dogs such as Edamame, Kurobuta Pork, Oroshi and many others. We didn't know what to order because everything looked so good and decided to leave it to our Hot Dog Chef who recommended us to go with their Spicy Cheese Terimayo.

Both the Bun and the Sausage were grilled and was then topped with some Teriyaki Sauce, Seaweed and Japanese Mayo. We couldn't resist and added a little zing to our Hot Dog by squeezing some Wasabi Mayo.

Biting into the Hot Dog I could see why people are raving about Japadog. One could definitely taste the cheese that was oozing out of the Hot Dog that was followed by some heat from the Cayenne. The Sausage also had the right amount of meat and it surprisingly went well with the earthy flavor of the Seaweed. The mayo's creamy flavor together with the grilled Sausage Bun all made this Hot Dog taste really good!

Haha yea I was thinking the same thing! Every store in DT Toronto sells the same stuff would be great to have a different kind of Hot Dog =)

You have a really well-written Food Blog! I'll be sure to check some of the places you've tried out!

Thanks for the kind words Kwong! It definitely is a shame now that the city has so many issues with the food cart programs. I don't expect to see anything like this in the near future =( But still, *fingers crossed*!

Yea that's true... Haha maybe they should just open one inside the mall. I wonder if people would actually try it?

Keep up the posts! I'll be back in TO in the middle of October and will try some of the restaurants that you've been to!
