I know I'm a week late with this posting since Chinese New Year has passed on the 15th of February but nevertheless I would like to share my dinner at Grand Imperial in BSC with everyone.
Reservations is a must at Grand Imperial during this time of the year and we were highly recommended to take one of their set menus to avoid any quality or timing disappointments as the chefs have already spent most of the day preparing those dishes.
Salmon Yee Sang
Imperial's Salmon Yee Sang was very well balanced. The Yee Sang wasn't too oily nor sweet and had the right amount of Sesame and Crushed Peanuts. I really enjoyed it.
Sharksfin Soup with Crab Meat
The soup was rich and contained quite a lot of Lump Crab Meat. It was also flavorful enough to drink on it's own without needing any use of Black Vinegar.
Roasted Suckling Pig
The Pig was a little disappointing. It was Crispy but it did not shatter in your mouth like the one in Full Wealth.
Stir-Fried Prawns with Tamarind Sauce
The Prawns were perfectly cooked and the Tamarind Sauce had a good balance between Sweet and Sour.
Steam Garoupa
The Fish was really good. It was perfectly steamed and the texture was firm with the Soy Sauce not overpowering the Fish.
Braised Cabbage with Lion's Head, Dried Mussels and Mushrooms
The Lion's Head was a mixture between Pork, Fish and Prawns. It's different from the usual Lion's Head which is made from Pork and Beef. The Cabbage was braised well maintaining a crunch while still being soft.
Waxed Meat with Glutinous Rice
Excellent Dish. The Rice had a nice bite and absorbed all the flavors of the Waxed Meat. One of the best Glutinous Rice Dish I've had this Chinese New Year.
Steam New Year Cake with Shredded Coconut and Lotus Pastry
The Steam New Year Cake was my favorite. It wasn't too sweet and was really soft. It went so well with the Fresh Shredded Coconut.
Sweet Potato Dessert Soup
This was so-so for me because I'm not a big fan of Chinese Dessert Soups.
We were glad the Manager strongly advised us to order from the Set Menu as our dishes came out pretty quick and the quality was really good. Service was also quite attentive despite the restaurant being overbooked.
