Japanese Food @ Aoi Japanese Restaurant, Bangkok

This trip to Bangkok I had a quick lunch with my friend Eric at Aoi Japanese Restaurant in Siam Paragon. The restaurant offered an ala Carte menu that featured a Kaiseki Set but we opted instead for their Lunch Sets.

This was Eric's order. The Salmon was partially cooked and thinly sliced giving it an almost melt in your mouth texture and was served with Sushi Rice that had the right amount of Rice Vinegar. The Salmon Roe gave it a nice hint of saltiness.

The Sashimi at Aoi was very fresh. The Tuna and Salmon Slices were cut thick and was really fresh. Eric who also eats a lot of Sashimi finds the quality to be much better than those served in KL and Hong Kong unless you're willing to pay top-dollar.

Grilled Beef Tongue

The Beef Tongue was cut the right width. It wasn't too thick or thin giving it a nice bite. It was well seasoned and tender.

Grilled Ayutthaya Prawns with Cod Roe Mayonnaise

The Prawns were smaller than what we saw on the Menu but tasted really good. It was grilled just right and the Cod Mayo added a little richness to the Prawns.

I've eaten Japanese Food in nearly every City I've visited and outside of Tokyo, Bangkok is still my favorite. Aoi like many other Japanese Restaurants in Bangkok serves up such good Japanese Food that in my opinion is unrivaled in similar restaurants elsewhere. This maybe attributed to the large number of Japanese Expats living in Thailand (Thailand is home to the largest Japanese Population in Asia outside of Japan).
