Lobster and Crab @ Provence Marinaside, Vancouver

I met up with my friend Imm who is currently studying in Vancouver for dinner. Working part-time at a Thai Restaurant she wanted to eat some local seafood that is not cooked Asian style.

Searching through Open-Table we decided to give Provence Marinaside a try after browsing their menu.

Croutons with Black Olive Tapenade

We began with some Crudites that was served with some Black Olive Tapenade.

Fresh Baguette and Herb Foccacia Bread

The Breads were nice especially their Herb Foccacia which was quite dense but still had a little crust.

Grilled Squid
Grilled Squid
The Squid was simply grilled and tossed in some Olive Oil and topped with Fresh Parsley. It was very tender and flavorful.

Seafood Stew
Seafood Stew
Our stew consisted of Scallops, Salmon, Prawns and Oysters that were cooked in a Seafood Broth that was finished off with Cream and some Gruyere Cheese. The Seafood Broth enhanced the natural sweetness of the juicy Scallops, Prawns, Oysters and Salmon.

Mediterranean Fish Soup
Croutons
Traditional Fish Soup
The Tomato-Based Fish Soup definitely tasted Fishy. It was very good when eaten with some Croutons and Garlic Aioli.

Steamed Dungeness Crab Provence Style
Steamed Dungeness Crab Provencal Style
The Crab was very fresh and the flavors of the sautéed Tomatoes, Butter and Garlic complemented the sweet crab meat.

Sauteed Whole Lobster Provencal Style
Broiled Whole Lobster
The Lobster was broiled to perfection. Like the Crab the sautéed Tomatoes, Butter and Garlic really complemented the meat.

Cheese Cake
Cheesecake
The Cheesecake was actually quite good. It was light and creamy though I prefer the crust to be a little crunchier.

The food at Provence is best described as simple but done right. The prices are also very reasonable making it a memorable meal.
