We've been having desserts everyday in Europe so far. At the rate that we're going I would have eaten more desserts during these two weeks compared with the whole of last year! Today wasn't any different as we chomp our way through two famous cafes.
Cafe Diglas
We continued our cake eating journey today at Cafe Diglas which was supposedly a well-rounded Cafe that serves up good pastries and coffee.
Our friend Balesk visited us from Budapest and so we were able to order three different cakes to share.
Strawberry and Chocolate Mousse Cake
The mousses were a little light in flavor and texture. It wasn't very sweet but neither was it oozing with chocolate or strawberry flavor. This would be a good cake for people that like it light. As for me I prefer the cake I had at Rischart in Munich.
Apple Strudel
The apple filling was quite sweet. I've never eaten enough apple strudel to know what it truly taste like but I would definitely like more cinnamon in it. The pastry was quite flaky. After watching Inglourious Basterds I wished they served mine with clotted cream just to see what it taste like.
Nut Cake
It looks kind of ugly but this was my favorite cake out of the three. The cake had a texture of a really soft bread that is mixed with a lot of nuts and cream.
Latte Machiato
Phin for some reason can't stop ordering this coffee. I didn't even bother to try after the strong Sacher Coffee last night.
Compared to Rischart I think the cakes weren't that good. Service was also very slow where we saw ourselves going up to the cashier and asking for a server.

Cafe Central
Our next stop was Cafe Central, a famous coffeehouse which was once a meeting place for intellectuals such as Leon Trotzky, Vladimir Lenin, Peter Altenberg and others.
Still stuffed from the food we had earlier and being close to dinner time we only ordered two different desserts to share. The first was the Chocolate Truffle Torte which saw layers of milk chocolate sponge in between a hazelnut chocolate mousse. It tasted similar to a Ferrero Rocher Chocolate.
Next we had the Pancake with Marmalade Jam which was excellent. The marmalade jam was warm and had a bitter taste from the zest to contrast with the sweetness. I also liked the texture of pancakes which were thin and light.
As usual Phin also ordered the Latte Macchiato. This is the most fancy version I've seen so far which contains not only whip cream but also vanilla ice cream.
