Eric's Seafood and Steamboat @ Plaza Damas, KL

Having been back in Asia for almost two months, I really miss Kam Toa's Hot Pot in Toronto. It is quite hard to find a decent place in KL for HK Style Hot Pot as most restaurants here serve the Malaysian version called "Steamboat" which focuses mainly on balls, balls and more balls. The only place I know in KL that serves HK Style Hot Pot is opened by the famous HK Comedian Eric Tsang at Plaza Damas. And this was where we had our dinner tonight.

Our meal began with a Salmon Yee Sang which was really good. The plum dressing wasn't too sweet and the extra crackers given always help make it a lot better in my mind.

After we finished the Yee Sang our waitress prepared our Herbal Chicken Soup Stock on the table which was followed by our orders of beef, dumplings, vegetables, lamb, pork, chicken, pork balls, cuttlefish balls and salmon sashimi.

The soup was really good and so were the dumplings and pork balls. However the meats were quite disappointing. The beef and lamb slices were cut too thick causing it to be chewy when cooked. And unlike Kam Toa where the chicken was actually cut into slices here it is served in chunky pieces.

Beef

Overall I would have to say Eric's Hot Pot maybe better in terms of their vegetables, balls and seafood. But when it comes to meats which is what I love about Hot Pot it still fails to compare with Kam Toa or any other Hot Pot places I've had in Toronto, Vancouver and HK.
