Japanese @ Okuchi, Kota Damansara

We were back at "The Strand" for lunch and wanting to go light we had some Japanese Food at Okuchi. Okuchi is the first Japanese restaurant around this area and I was impressed by the quality of the food they served here when I first tried it out a couple of years back.

Our meal started with a complementary mini Eggplant Appetizer that had some chunks of Pork Meat and Taro. It had a nice salty flavor and the eggplant was very soft.

For appetizers I had a simple Seafood Salad that included cooked salmon, shrimp, surf clam, imitation crab meat and octopus. Bolly and I also shared a plate of Grilled Beef Tongue Skewers which was really good. The beef tongue were sliced paper thin giving it an almost crispy like texture from the grilling.

Main dishes included an order of Salmon and Tuna Sashimi and Okuchi is one of only a handful of Japanese Restaurants in KL that slices their sashimi the way I like it... thick.

Hamachi Kama Shioyaki was not very good today with the fish tasting a little stale and overcooked.

Bolly had his first Unagi Don and was very happy with it. The Unagi was warm and very soft and was basted with a lot of sauce.

For our last dish we had the Mayo Salmon which is basically pan-seared salmon that is tossed in a mayo-based fruit salad. The salmon was a little over-cooked but the fruit salad sauce was really good.

I frequent Okuchi quite often and must admit that the food today wasn't up to par. Maybe the produce wasn't fresh today, but this place is definitely worth visiting if you're craving for some Japanese Food around Kota Damansara.
