Terrible Dim Sum Brunch Buffet @ Toh Yuen, Hilton PJ

Over the years I’ve always had a bad habit of applying to too many Hotel Memberships without ever using their Complimentary Meal or Stay vouchers until it reaches its expiry.

Not wanting to waste away my vouchers this year, I started using them every month beginning with Hilton’s complimentary lunch voucher, where I used at Toh Yuen for their Sunday Brunch Buffet.

Pan-Fried Ostrich Meat

Toh Yuen’s Dim Sum spread was halal and featured a variety of stations including Dim Sum, Chinese Cold Platter, Salads, Fried and Baked Dim Sum, Sashimi, Noodle Bar, Peking Duck and Desserts.

The spread in my view was quite limited for its price and the quality of the Dim Sum was poor. BBQ Chicken Charsiew Pastry was left sitting on the counter for way too long making the pastry dense and not good. The Har Gow did not contain much shrimps and the dough was very thick.

My Noodles that was made to order contained overcooked prawns and Wontons whose skin was thick and chewy.

The only thing I enjoyed was the Salmon Sashimi and cold Peking Duck which was decent compared with other dishes we ate. Desserts were not impressive either with miniscule cakes that were dry and rather plain.

Overall for the price one would expect a much better Dim Sum Brunch Buffet. Being a Dim Sum Buffet Toh Yuen should focus on serving high quality Dim Sum rather than offer a myriad of sub-par dishes. Diners that want to enjoy a full buffet can always op for their Coffee House Buffet.

Thanks for the review on this dim sum restaurant. Now I know they serve bad dim sum for its price.
