Decadent Cakes and Hot Chocolate @ Cafe Maelu, Munich

After a heavy lunch in Spatenhaus my eating spree continued with Desserts at one of my friend's favorite Dessert Cafe called Maelu. The ground level of the cafe featured a display counter showcasing a beautiful array of Mini-Cakes, Eclairs, Pralines and Tarts and the second floor was the seating area.

Adam insisted I had to try Maelu's Hot Chocolate claiming it to be the best in Munich. The Hot Chocolate was extremely creamy and chocolaty but somehow it did not feel heavy. It was definitely one of the best Hot Chocolates I've had.

The Provence consisted of Sacher Sponge with White Chocolate Mousse and a hint of Lavender that was infused inside a dark chocolate cream.

This is the Cafe's signature Cake. It is an ultra decadent Chocolate Mousse Cake that uses only the finest Chocolate Mousse (according to the Cafe the Chocolate used is from the 2004 world's best chocolate) with Chocolate Meringue, that is garnished with Chocolate Shavings and 24k Gold Dust.

The Black Forest Cake consisted of Sacher Sponge with a Cherry Berry Infused White Chocolate Mousse, Dark Chocolate Mousse and was filled with Sour Cherries.

The Cakes at Café Maelu were all really good in my opinion. Most of the cakes we ordered were Mousse Cakes but they tasted deceptively light and wasn’t very sweet.
