Japanese Buffet @ Osechi, Japanese Restaurant

I wasn’t quite sure how long ago Dozo closed down but it was replaced by another Japanese Restaurant called Osechi serving Buffet.

Mango Salad

Don’t know how this dish is Japanese. The Mango Salad was so-so.

Crab Meat Salad
Crab Meat Salad
I liked the Crab Meat Salad. It was tossed in a creamy mayo dressing that was served with shredded cucumbers and flying fish eggs

Assorted Sashimi

The Sashimi was not bad. It wasn’t the best Sashimi in a buffet I’ve had but definitely above average.

Spider Crab Maki and Salmon Maki

These were so-so compared with Ten-Ichi, Yang’s Kitchen or Akina

Beef Teriyaki

The Beef Teriyaki was a little bit chewy for my liking.

Grilled Beef Ribs
Beef Ribs
The Beef Ribs were decent. It had a nice sweet flavor and was quite tender.

Grilled Beef Roll with Mushroom
Beef Roll with Spring Onion
The Beef Rolls were a little chewy.

Grilled Salmon Belly
Grilled Salmon Belly
The Grilled Salmon Belly was salted just right and had a nice crunch from being grilled.

Grilled Mackerel

Deep Fried Red Bean Sesame Balls
Deep Fried Sesame Balls
These were really good. The Sesame Balls had a nice crunch that was followed by a soft chewy texture. The Red Bean filling was really good as well.

Overall the menu items at Osechi are small compared with other more established Japanese Buffets. The quality of the food is mediocre as well. In my opinion I still prefer Ten-Ichi, Akina, Wasabi and Yang’s Kitchen.
