Pretzel
The pretzels here were cold and not fresh. We thought it was complimentary but we were actually charged based on every piece we took. The funny thing was we ate half of the pretzel and put it back in the basket. The waitress took out our eaten pretzel and served it to another table.
Jagerbraten (Roast Pork Hunter’s Style with Spaetzle)
This was an Oktoberfest special. The slices of roast pork shoulder topped with melted cheese had enough fat to keep the meat moist and tender. The rich mushroom gravy with cream was little too salty for my liking.
The Spaetzle was pretty much tasteless and very chewy. We had much better Spaetzle in Regensburg.
Spanferkel (Roast Suckling Pig in Dark Beer Sauce with Knoedel, Sauerkraut)
The suckling pig was very dry but went well with the savory beer sauce, which had a hint of sweetness. The Knoedel (potato dumpling) had a very refined texture and soaks up a lot of the beer sauce.
Our entire meal cost us 40 Euros, which was quite expensive. I’ve had much better Bavarian Food in other places. Furthermore, tipping is usually not mandatory in Germany, but my waitress made it very clear where the “tip” column was.
