Dead tired from a 24 hour flight from KL to Toronto and a 12 hour time-zone change I was on another flight 3 days later to Vegas for the SEMA Convention. This once booming "Sin-City" has hit to a halt with major drops in housing value (nearly 50% in some cases), rising unemployment and empty casinos.
The convention itself has shrunk with only 75% exhibit space used. Attending the show was not about finding new products but merely checking out which fellow competitors, customers and suppliers are still alive and kicking.
With nearly everything in a slump dining with my customers this year was not in Michelin Starred Restaurants. We opted instead to pig out at Bellagio's buffet which is more economical in the sense that we had all the variety and quantity we would like at a reasonable price.
I've had quite a few buffets in Vegas and would say that Bellagio probably offers the best quality and variety. Like many high-end buffets the variety is aplenty with different live stations offering dishes from Asia, Italy, France, Mexico, America and much more.
Cold seafood includes your standard fare of crab legs and mussels while the Japanese section offers Sushi and some Hawaiian Salmon and Tuna Poke.
At the meat station one could get Roast Turkey and Kobe Beef Sirloin but my favorite was their aged prime rib roast which was succulent and well-marbled.
Desserts were also not bad with sugar-free cakes for diabetics and soft-serve Ice Cream. My favorite was the Key-Lime Meringue Pie where I enjoyed the nice contrast of the tangy key lime flavor to offset the overall sweetness of the dessert.

The food in Bellagio is of course better than MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Worth the extra bucks that you paid.
