Pork Burger @ Cristang

Famed for their pork burgers Cristang is probably one of the most blogged about restaurants I have read in KL. Having heard claims that their burgers are to die for we headed out to try it for ourselves.

There seven different pork burgers ranging from P1-P7. Confused over which one to order our waiter told us to pick P7 "The Urban Legend". This is supposedly the mother of all burgers with a petai (a really smelly and strong bean) infused patty topped with a petai infused chili con-carne and of course with a slab of cheese, oversized onion rings and tomato. The verdict? Juicy, delicious and surprised at how well the petai complemented the burger. Just look at my eating model Mike devouring his P7.

Besides their burgers Cristang also serves up a wide variety of Nyonya and Western Dishes with their own twist.

We ordered their highly recommended Nasi Lemak Goreng (Fried Oily Rice). This calorie bomb contains liberal amounts of butter, Chinese Sausage, Fried Shallots, Bacon and a deep fried egg. This combination may sound gross but trust me it packed a whole load of flavor despite the rice being a tad too oily.

Their Nyonya and Asian dishes were so-so and did not wow us like the Nasi Lemak and Pork Burger. Portuguese Baked Fish had a nice amount of heat but was a little mild in flavor.

We ordered their Ribs Ambila but they ran out and so we settled for their Chicken Debal which was a little bland and did not pack any heat.

Bak Kut Teh with instant noodles was creative but their soup was rather watery and bland.

For dessert their Home-Made Oreo with Peppermint Ice Cream is not to be missed. The combination of alcohol soaked Oreo cookies with a vanilla and Oreo ice cream was one killer combination. We wiped this out within minutes.

Our last dessert was their Pan Fried Butter Cake with Creme Anglaise. Despite being pan fried the butter cake was only crispy on the edges. It was a decent dessert but didn't blow us away like the Oreo ice cream did.

The four of us were stuffed after sampling so many dishes. I would definitely love to come back to sample the other dishes that I did not have room for.
