We opted to go with the sets. I had the Jyo Sashimi Zen which came with Rice, Egg Custard, Miso Soup, Salad and Fruits. The sashimi included Ikura (Salmon Caviar), three slices each of Salmon and Tuna, two slices of Hamachi and Chu-Toro (Tuna Belly). The fishes were cut thick and were as fresh as they can be. The Chu-Toro although not as fat as the pricier O-Toro (Premium Cut Tuna Belly) still has enough fat to melt in your mouth.
Wayne had the Sushi Bento which came with Sushi, Tempura, Sashimi, Futo Maki, Cawan Mushi (Egg Custard), Soba Noodles, Miso Soup, Salad and Fruits. The soba noodles was very good but the tempura was a little soggy and tasted as if it was fried with stale oil.
Phin ordered the Chicken Teppanyaki Set which included Cawan Mushi, Rice, Miso Soup, Salad and Fruits. The tender pieces of chicken meat was pan-fried with some enoki mushrooms for added flavor.
In addition to our sets I also ordered the Hamachi Kama Shioyaki. Unlike other places where they serve the whole neck Genji serves them in bite size pieces. Nevertheless they were grilled perfect with the skin crisp and the meat moist and perfectly seasoned.
Phin's baby nephew Rian also had his own main course which came in the form of Green Tea Ice Cream. I'll let him tell you how good the Ice Cream is based on his pictures.
Overall the food was a little pricey in Genji. But with a 25% discount as a Hilton Premium Club Member it set us back approximately RM 330. However with such good food I definitely don't mind eating here again.
