My Hungarian friend Bolly is visiting Malaysia and Asia for the first time. Figuring he was tired from his flight we decided to have dinner at Delicious in One Utama since it was close to my house.
Most will be upset at me for not taking Bolly out to try our local dishes that Malaysians are so proud off. But I figured Delicious was a nice way to start his 4 month visit because it offered a little of everything.
Our meal started with my order of Wild Mushroom Soup. The soup was surprisingly good today. It was rich and thick from the blended mushrooms and Bolly noted that it tasted like what they served in Germany.
For my main course I had the Thai Style Sea Bass which was basically a modified version of Thai Steamed Sea Bass with Lime Sauce. Here the Sea Bass were filleted and the Lime Sauce was made into a soup. I definitely like the sourness from the soup but felt the Sea Bass was a little overcooked.
Bolly ordered the Grilled Balinese Chicken which was decent. The grilled chicken was served with some peanut gravy and rice. The chicken was a little dry and did not have much flavor.
Eric ordered the Hainanese Chicken Chop. The Deep Fried Chicken Fillets were served with some not so crispy Thick Cut Fries and a Tomato Based Gravy on the side.
Aunty Siew Keng ordered the Ayam Percik with Nasi Kerabu. This is probably the best of the dishes we had. The Chicken was tender and went well with the sweet but savory Percik Sauce. Aunty Siew Keng liked the Ulam that was served with the dish.
Overall the food was decent and the service was good. Our meal cost RM 132.7 including tips and taxes. I would really appreciate it if fellow Malaysian readers could recommend their favorite places to eat some good Malaysian Food like Nasi Lemak, Wonton Mee and many more in KL!
