We paid a visit to Tim Ho Wan in HK to sample its famous BBQ Pork Bun and Dim Sum that has helped earn the restaurant a Michelin Star. We dined at their Sham Shui Po location.
Baked BBQ Pork Bun
Chicken Feet wrapped with Beancurd Skin
Steamed Chicken with Ginger and Black Fungus
Ground Pork wrapped in Beancurd Skin
Stuffed Green Pepper
Spring Roll
Deep Fried Spinach Noodle Roll
The Dim Sum we had was definitely good but it wasn't better than some of the Dim Sum Restaurants I've had. My favorite of was their famous BBQ Pork Bun which I've not had anywhere else. The Bun had a nice crumbly texture that melts in your mouth upon biting into it.

Dim Sum @ Grand Duke, Markham
Situated on McCowan and Hwy 7, Grand Duke is the latest Cantonese Restaurant I visited for Dim Sum. The Dim Sum Menu was pretty average with your usual offerings and most are cooked to order.
Siu Yoke
Surprisingly good. The Siu Yoke was brined making it really moist and flavorful. The skin had a nice crunch. It is definitely one of the better Siu Yoke dishes we had.
Stir-Fried Greens
Steam Salmon Fish Head
The Salmon was Deep-Fried and Steamed with some Fermented Tofu Sauce.
Stir-Fried Noodles with Eggplant and Minced Pork
Not my favorite. The noodles were a little too dry and oily.
Chicken's Feet
Cha Leong
Malay Cake
Milk Egg Tart
Deep Fried Sesame Balls
Most of the Dim Sum I had were above average. The Siu Yoke however was one of the best I've personally had in Dim Sum Restaurants. Although it was a little oily, the Skin had a really good crunch and the meat was moist and flavorful.

Dumplings and More @ Din Dai Fung, First Markham Place
We recently had dinner at Din Dai Fung in First Markham Place. This Din Dai Fung is not affiliated with the famous Din Dai Fung from Taiwan. The menu however is very similar to the original and is always packed with diners.
Xiao Long Bao
The Xiao Long Bao was quite good. The skin was not as thin as I'd like but the filling was quite flavorful.
Crab Meat Xiao Long Bao
Vegetable Dumpling
The Chive filling was nicely seasoned but the skin was a little too tough.
Stir Fried Greens
Jelly Fish
This was so-so for me. The Jelly Fish was rather tasteless.
Stir-Fried Nian Gao
A dish I thoroughly enjoy in China but was really bad here. The Nian Gao was very soft unlike the one's in China which are served Al Dente in texture.
Stuffed Glutinous Rice
Meatball Casserole
My favorite dish of the night. The Meatballs were soft and flavorful and the broth was also really good.
Boiled Pork Belly Slices
Another favorite dish of mine. The Pork Belly Slices were cooked just right and had a nice combination of fat and meat. It was great with the Oyster Garlic Sauce.
Braised Beef Noodles
The Broth was a little too bland for my liking and the Beef a little tough.
The food was definitely not as good as the original Din Dai Fung but is decent compared with similar Dumpling Restaurants in Toronto.

Dim Sum @ Premiere Banquet & Convention Center, Richmond Hill
Located just 5 minutes from my office, I've visited Premiere at least three times over the past week and a half. It is our company's restaurant of choice when treating our customers for lunch due to its wide variety of Dim Sum at a reasonable price.
Shredded Chicken with Sesame Sauce with Seaweed Salad
Siu Mai
Har Kow
Scallop Dumplings
Minced Cuttlefish Dumplings
Sui Kow
Steamed Spare Ribs with Black Bean Sauce
Pan Fried Cheong Fan
Steam Lamb
The Dim Sum at Premiere is definitely not as good as my personal favorites Casa Victoria and Crown Prince. However for the price and variety it is still a decent Dim Sum restaurant to visit.

Chinese New Year Dim Sum @ Lai Ching Yuen, Grand Millenium KL
I've only visited Lai Ching Yuen once and that was also during Chinese New Year a couple of years back. We decided to pay the restaurant a visit again hearing now that they are serving Pork on their menu. The restaurant was very packed the day we went but we were lucky enough to be given a private room.
The Dim Sum here are all made to order and diners can see the chefs make them via the Open Kitchen.
Soft Shell Crab Yee Sang
This was my first time having Soft Shell Crab in Yee Sang and it was very good. The Soft Shell Crab was very crispy which went very well with the Crackers. The Yee Sang itself was also very good. It had the right amount of sweetness and wasn't too oily.
Xiao Long Bao
Their Xiao Long Bao was mediocre. The skin was a little dense and the broth lacked flavor.
Siu Mai
The Siu Mai was quite good. It had a nice springy and meaty texture which I enjoyed.
Shrimp Dumpling
The Shrimp Dumpling was overcooked. The Skin of the Dumpling was very soggy and the Prawns had a mushy texture.
Spinach in Superior Broth
The Garlic Chips and Needle Mushrooms added a depth of flavor to the Broth. It was however a little bit oily.
Deep Fried Yam
The Yam tasted overcooked but we soon realized it was re-used oil. 3 of us shared the Yam and we had food poisoning.
Egg Tart
The Egg-Tart was a cross between the regular short-bread crust and puff pastry crust. It was ok.
Lemongrass Pork Rib
This was part of their Chinese New Year Special Dish. The Pork Rib flavor tasted similar to Thailand's BBQ Pork but was very mild due to the lack of marination. The Texture however was really good with a good ratio of fat and meat.
Hokkien Mee
A Signature of the Restaurant. The Hokkien Mee was really good. It wasn't too salty and the chefs put in the right amount of Pork Lard.
Durian Crepe
A signature dessert. The dessert would have been better had it been served chilled.
Mango and Pomelo with Sago Dessert Soup
The Dessert Soup was pretty good. The Mango Flavor was very strong and went well with the Vanilla Ice Cream.
Fried Nian Gao
The Nian Gao was left out in the open for too long which caused the crust to become dense and chewy and the Nian Gao to harden.
Overall the food was quite average. There were a couple of things which we quite enjoyed like their Hokkien Mee and Yee Sang. However most of their other Dim Sum was sub-par. What made it worse was of the 4 of us that ate there, 3 had food poisoning including myself. We think it was from the Fried Yam Puff or Fried Nian Gao since my brother did not ate both and was fine.
