My colleagues took me for Hot Pot on my last night in Siyang County. Despite its name this restaurant does not belong to the famous Little Lamb Chain in China. We ordered our usual of Beef and Lamb and also Pig's Brain (a favorite of Chinese Locals). The meats were fresh but the Fatty Beef was leaner than what I'm usually accustomed too.
Somewhere North of Jiangsu province I was treated by my suppliers for some good old Hot Pot. Browsing through the pictured menu of marbled beef cuts I was salivating over what they were going to order until the food arrived...
Pig's Brains My first and last time having it. The brain's had a texture similar to a creamy Tofu but had an after-taste which I did not enjoy. Seeing it's my first time having it my outgoing suppliers gave me half the plate.
Beef Tripe The Tripe was so fresh it was served unbleached. The Tripe had a crunchy and chewy texture which I really enjoyed.
Frog Legs I've eaten Frog Legs before but it's my first time having it for Hot Pot. The meat was rather bland for my liking.
Short Rib Of all the Beef we could have for Hot Pot they order Short Rib. Needless to say it was way too tough when boiled.
Beef Tenderloin Another Beef Cut that is not what I would normally order. The Beef Tenderloin was marinated with some Corn Starch and flattened. The meat's texture was very smooth and soft when cooked but it was rather flavoless due to the lack of marbling.
Local River Fish I'm not a fan of Fish for Hot Pot but the Fish they ordered was superb. The flesh was firm and it tasted of the Sea.
Fresh Conger Eel Conger Eel's are great when BBQ'ed but it's bad in Hot Pot. It had a really fishy flavor and the texture was very chewy.
Fish Paste Finally something familiar. I enjoyed the smooth texture of the Fish Paste.
Hand-Pulled Noodles The Noodles came in different flavors such as Pumpkin, Taro, Spinach, Egg and Buckwheat. I had the Taro and it was delicious. The Noodles had a nice springy texture and you could actually taste the Taro.
Assorted Mushrooms Can't go wrong with Fresh Mushrooms.
The restaurant without a doubt served up good quality ingredients. If only my suppliers stuck with the usual Ribeye, Sirloin and other familiar Hot Pot Dishes I would have enjoyed it even further. Nevertheless it was an experience I would never forget.

We stumbled upon Orange Shabu while looking for a new restaurant to try in Kota Damansara. The restaurant recently opened in February and focuses mainly on Japanese Style Beef Shabu.
Signature Dipping Sauce This is their signature dipping sauce. It is made from Ponzu and Garlic. The sourness of the sauce went really well with the Beef.
Salad
Vegetables
Stuffed Pork Balls The Pork Balls were one of my favorites. The stuffing was made of some marinated minced pork
Fried Tofu Cake and Fish Balls
Wonton
Hokkaido Scallops The Scallops were frozen because it was imported from Hokkaido.
Sliced Australian Beef Their Australian Beef was reasonably priced and very soft when eaten due to it being cut paper-thin.
Sliced Wagyu Beef The Wagyu Beef they serve was thinly sliced and fat. The meat melts in your mouth and was a favorite of Mike's.
Sliced Chicken
Sliced Lamb Their Lamb was quite good and thinly sliced. It had a good combination between fat and meat.
Sliced Pork My favorite meat after their beef. The Pork was really tender and had a really nice natural flavor.
Palate Cleanser
Coffee Jello The Coffee Jello was really good. It had a nice Coffee Flavor and the texture was between a Pudding and Jello.
Although the menu is limited I highly recommend Orange Shabu for their good quality Beef that is hard to find in most Shabu Places.
I was in Hong Kong for a night and stayed with my friend Stanley who took me out for some Hot Pot just right below their apartment in Causeway bay. The Hotpot restaurant is popular among locals for their Tomato Crab Broth which was something I've never tried before.
Tomato Hot Pot Broth with Blue Crab This is the restaurant's signature Broth. It tasted like HK-style Russian Bortsch and surprisingly complemented all the Beef, Lamb and Pork we ordered. The Blue Crab that was thrown into the broth added a richer flavor because of its roe.
Dipping Condiments
Fatty Beef As the name implies the Beef was very fat and melts in your mouth. It was thinly sliced and wasn't served frozen which did not dry out the meat
Fried Fish Skin The Fish Skin here was really good. It was very crispy and was served piping hot.
Mongolian Lamb Slices The Mongolian Lamb Slices was not very fat and had a strong lamb flavor.
Beancurd Sheet Rolls A favorite of mine when eating Hot Pot in Hong Kong. The Beancurd Rolls were freshly fried and did not taste too oily. It was light, crispy and consisted of many thin layers which allowed the outside to absorb the broth and the inner layers to maintain its crispiness when bitten into.
Fish Maw Dumplings It was my first time eating Fish Maw Dumplings.
I really enjoyed the Hot Pot at this place especially their broth which I've never had before. The Tomato flavor definitely help accentuate the meatiness of the all the meats we ordered.

After having a really expensive but mediocre meal at G Buzzano, Bali and I decided to try out simpler foods during our next two days in Frankfurt having Vietnamese to Flammkuchen!
Pho @ Pho 79 The Pho here may not have all the usual ingredients of a typical but it was decent. The Bean Sprouts were a little stale and the use of Basil and Lime was substituted with Parsley and Lemon
Spiesbraten @ IAA Three years in a row I ate at this stall for their Spiesbraten at Messe Frankfurt and it is still good! This is to me is lunch for Champions. Flavorful Pork Shoulder braised with Onions and served with two slices of German Rolls.
Macarons @ Imori Patisserie We stumbled upon this little Pastry Shop while walking around Romer Platz. The Macarons had a nice flavor but the texture was a little bit too chewy for my liking.
Grilled Sausages and Flammkuchen @ Street Food Stalls along The Zeil There were a ton of Food Stalls celebrating Oktoberfest along the Zeil. The Sausage was really good but the Flammkuchen was only so-so.
Hotpot Buffet @ Yan Jing The only Hotpot I've ever had in Germany. The Lamb meat was exceptionally good but the beef and other meats and seafood were not very fresh. Overall good value since it was all you can eat for 20 Euros.
